About your massage therapy session:

  • Both locations have a massage table that is 32” wide 63” long and is rated to hold more than 600lbs of dynamic pressure.

  • We use the phrase “undress to your comfort” because there are no requirements for taking off or leaving on certain clothing items.

A good guideline is: if taking off a piece of clothing will make you nervous or uncomfortable, leave it on. Feeling safe and comfortable is much better than pushing yourself to remove more clothing.

You will be appropriately draped with a sheet and blanket during the session, only uncovering the area being worked. For more info on draping, see “Will I be covered during my session?”

  • Intake: you and me will get to know each other by talking through your paperwork planning your session together

Settling in: I will leave the treatment room for you to undress to your comfort and lay on the table

The session: I will communicate throughout the session about what is happening and how you are feeling. Different modalities and techniques are used in all sessions to try to address pains, ease tensions, and help you feel more centered and grounded.

After: I will leave the treatment room for you to transition back into time and space. Once you are dressed and ready you can meet her outside the treatment room to check out and book your next session.

  • The purposes of the intake process are:

To ensure your safety: there are situations where massage may be unsafe or detrimental to receive, or where certain modalities should be avoided.

To ensure Jae’s safety: preventing the spread of infectious conditions.

To cultivate shared understanding: You are the expert of your own body. Learning about your health history and your goals for massage help Jae understand how to help best.

After your first session, there will be an abbreviated check-in before your sessions to update any health information and discuss your goals for the day.

  • In most sessions I will use some kind of lotion or oil.

Click here to see the details about lotion options.

I always have coconut oil or jojoba extract available for use instead to accommodate any skin sensitivities or allergies

  • I will only uncover the part of your body that is being worked on, utilizing professional guidelines for keeping clients appropriately draped.

During your session, the following areas will always be covered by the drape (sheet): nipples, breast tissue, gluteal cleft, and genital area. These areas will not be massaged.

Even with these draping protocols in place, you are in charge of your body: if you ever prefer to be more covered, please tell me.

NY State definition: Draping includes methods used by a massage therapist to protect modesty, privacy, warmth and/or comfort of a patient/client by the use of sheets, towels, blankets or any item that serves this purpose.

  • People have different preferences for the amount of conversation during their session. I will follow your lead, so chatting, silence, and everything in between are all fine options.

I will check in during your session about the level of pressure used, for feedback on where you feel the effects of a technique, and if a particular area feels tender or tight. I may also verbally cue your breathing during particular techniques.

Though I have experience working on many bodies, every body is different and only you know how something feels in your body! Thus communication is a way to ensure your session is best for you.

You have an open line of communication to me at all times: please share immediately if something is painful, uncomfortable, or you have other preferences.

Policies:

  • I provide therapeutic massage and bodywork for the purposes of improving and maintaining my clients’ health and wellness.

I reserve the right to refuse or terminate services at any time should my profession or my person be disrespected or violated.

Reasons for refusal or termination include but are not limited to: sexual advances, other inappropriate behavior or speech, intoxication, contagious illness, chronic tardiness and/ or cancelling last minute.

  • Masking is not required. I will continue to wear a mask during sessions.

If you have been around people who are sick with contagious conditions (think colds and flus), it is very helpful if you wear a mask during your massage. I have masks available for client use if you ask.

If you are not feeling well, please reschedule your appointment!

As a massage therapist, getting sick means canceling my appointments so as to not to endanger my clients. Thus getting sick means I delay pain-relieving care that people may need and I lose income. I appreciate your consideration in this matter!

  • Cancellations often make an un-filled spot in my schedule and directly affect my income. I appreciate your consideration in this matter!

Please cancel 24 hours in advance if you are sick or otherwise become unavailable.

No-shows: if you do not notify me that you need to cancel and do not show up for your appointment, you will need to pay a $40 no-show fee before you can schedule with me again.

Cancellations within 24 hours of your session: life happens! Every client receives one free “pass” to cancel within 24 hours of their session. After that, a cancellation fee of $40 must be paid before you can book another appointment.

  • The best ways to communicate with Jae is via text or email. Jae’s ability to return phone calls is limited, thank you for your understanding.

Using online booking means you consent to receive automated reminder emails and subscribes you to the JF Bodywork Newsletter. You must opt-in for text message reminders. You may unsubscribe at any time from the newsletter.

  • Please plan to arrive 5 minutes before your appointment time, so that you have time to settle in, and we can check-in while still starting your session on-time.

If you are late, your session will still end at the planned time. You are still responsible for full payment of the session.

If you are more than 20 minutes late and do not notify me, I retain the right to consider that a no-show and charge you a fee. It is up to my discretion whether we proceed with a shortened session.

  • Price is based on session length:

    30 min/$60 45 min/$75 60 min/$90

    75 min/$195 90 min/$120

I do not charge add-of fees for different modalities.

Packages get you 10% off. See pricing page for details.

  • Tips are not expected - you will receive the same regardless of tipping.

I use “tips” in 2 ways:

    1. Since I do not charge for "add-ons," some money from tips goes towards the costs associated with those modalities (cleaning supplies, specialty lotions and oils, and continuing education).

    2. The majority of "tip" money goes towards subsidizing pay-what-you-can massages. These massages are offered at a lower cost to help those who experience financial barriers to accessing bodywork.

While tips are accepted and appreciated, tipping does not affect my opinion of you or the quality of care you receive!

  • All locations accept

    card, cash, Venmo, and check

  • A HIPAA compliant intake form is available for you to fill out online before your first session.

If you prefer a paper form, you can view and download the intake form here.

Intake form must be fully completed to the best of your knowledge. Willingly excluding any health information may be dangerous and is cause for termination of our session.
